The TLD5097EP is a flexibly usable DC/DC boost controller with built in diagnosis and protection features especially designed to drive LEDs. It is designed to support fixed current and fixed voltage configurations in multiple topologies such as Boost, Buck, Buck-Boost, SEPIC and Flyback by simply adjusting the external components. The TLD5097EP drives a low side n-channel power MOSFET from an internal 5 V linear regulator. The switching frequency is adjustable in the range of 100 kHz to 500 kHz and can also be synchronized to an external clock source. The TLD5097EP can be flexibly dimmed by means of analog and PWM dimming; an enable function reduces the shut-down current consumption to IQ_OFF < 10 µA. The current mode control scheme of this device provides a stable regulation loop maintained by small external compensation components. Additionally an integrated soft start feature limits the current peak as well as voltage overshoot at start-up. This IC is suited for use in the harsh automotive environments.
